103 Pages. It’s Finished.
Today I reached page 103 of the new screenplay for So You Want to Marry My Daughter.
I first wrote this movie back in 2022. That version was one dad versus four boys and it became the version we used to film our trailer with Robert Amaya and Raphael Ruggero.
But then life changed.
I walked my own daughter Adalie down the aisle.
I gave her away.
And after experiencing that for myself, I realized this story needed to become much more personal.
So I started over.
This new version is simpler: one dad, one daughter, one young man asking for her hand—and one father learning that loving his daughter also means letting her go.
For the past several weeks, I’ve been writing before work, in the evenings, and whenever I could find the time.
Now the entire story is there—from page one to page 103.
That doesn’t mean the screenplay is locked. There will still be notes, rewrites, tightening, and changes as we move through development.
But for the first time, this version exists as a complete movie on the page.
A story I first started four years ago has become something new because God let me live a little more of it first.
And now the next chapter begins:
We have to get it made.
