28 Years, 70 Pages, 7 Backers
We’ve spent 28 years building a life together. Now we’re asking 93 more families to help us build Highwater.
This week, April and I are celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary.
Twenty-eight years ago, we started building a life together.
Since then, God has given us four daughters, a lot of adventures, a few hard seasons, and plenty of moments where we had no idea what He was going to do next.
Now, Highwater is part of that story too.
And this week, another number feels pretty significant:
70 pages.
The screenplay for So You Want to Marry My Daughter is now 70 pages out of my 100-page goal.
Thirty pages to go.
I’ve been writing in the mornings before work and again in the evenings, and for the first time, the finish line really feels close.
Right now, finishing the screenplay is my main focus.
Once it’s done, I’m going to pick the fundraising ball back up and put more energy into building the Highwater Christian Film Fund.
But there’s one part of Highwater we don’t need to wait on.
When we launched the nonprofit this summer, we set a goal of finding 100 families who would become monthly Backers.
Right now, we have 7.
Seven families have already said, “We believe in this enough to help every month.”
I’m incredibly grateful for them.
But we need 93 more.
After 28 years of marriage, one thing April and I have learned is that worthwhile things are rarely built all at once.
They’re built one faithful step at a time.
One year at a time.
One page at a time.
One family at a time.
That’s how I see Highwater too.
When we reach 100 monthly Backers, it won’t just mean we hit a fundraising goal.
It will mean Highwater has a real foundation—a community of people helping us fund this movie and future Christian films month after month.
If you believe in what we’re building, would you become one of those families?
Go to Highwater.app, choose Backer, and join us.
The screenplay is at 70 pages.
Highwater has 7 monthly Backers.
And after 28 years together, April and I still believe God can build something meaningful from small, faithful beginnings.
Thanks for being part of the adventure.
